Ogone Kgware, also known as Slash Papie, was born on the 1st of June 2004. Born in the City of Roses, Bloemfontein, this is the home of the beginning of his journey.
The very influential, enthusiastic Slash we know today started as a rapper in the year 2018. He started with his friends, but saw that there is more than just being a rapper.
Being a rapper wasn’t as fruitful as some rappers could conform to be, he stated in the interview that he would sometimes be played, scammed and be left with high hopes for a career changing manoeuvre, but he decided to learn about the corporate side of music and grow his connection web that he didn’t have as a rapper.
Him wanting to set aside being a rapper, he wanted to find something closer to music which was the music business. Inspired by the likes of Sibu Mabena of Duma Collective, he did a lot of research which led to where he is now. He says that he never stops learning and wanting to know more.
He manages his time between school work and running Young Mellow Entertainment Agency very efficiently.
Managing projects like The Kulture has Slash giving his all. The Kulture is all about giving creatives opportunities to showcase their work. From hosting events, announcing artist of the week and hosting photoshoots, its going to be a major turn of events for Bloemfontein’s finest creatives. He says that managing this project is like building something solid that cannot be broken.
And also mentioning The Youth Republic, which is also an articles platform, it gives the youth a platform to express everything and showcase their talent. Same thing with the Listen To The Kids Podcast, projects that work hand in hand with the youth.
Not everything runs smoothly on all the projects, there are minor setbacks that Slash said in the interview that “…it’s either you allow them to break you or build you…”.
Slash is for the youth and lets acknowledge that.
